11TH ANNUAL HUMAN RIGHTS POTLUCK DINNER
To commemorate the 60th ANNIVERSARY
of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This event is dedicated to the memory of the late Bob Steiner and Don Carroll, peace and social justice activists in Howard County, Maryland.
TIME: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

PERFORMERS INCLUDE:
Rev. Anthony Brown performing his songs of “hope and inspiration” such as: ‘Dream’, as well as the rendition of the classic, ‘If I Can Help Somebody’. Rev. Brown is an active member of the Morning Star Baptist Church since 1982.
Rev. Simon Bautista Betances, will perform traditional Haitian songs. He is an Episcopal priest in the Diocese of Washington and was born in the Dominican Republic. He is a member of the board of CASA de Maryland.
Jay Kishor brings his sitar intensive background to his guitar playing. “..my guitar approach is deeply influenced by my background in Indian Classical Music, even though my playing celebrates all musical traditions, both Eastern and Western!” Jay’s bio includes performances with guitar giants Stanley Jordan and the late Michael Hedges. He has also served as “Visiting Artist” with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Rumisonko, a Latin American folk ensemble: Rumisonko means “heart of stone” in the language of the Quechua, a culture that spans the breadth of the Andes Mountains in South America. It is meant to express the enduring strength of the cultures that are the root of Andean music. Based in Washington, DC, the members of this talented musical group are originally from Bolivia, Chile, and the United States. Their music is a combination of traditional Andean music and other influences from Latin America folklore and New Song movement. The group’s members have performed in venues, such as New York’s Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center. They have also appeared in the Smithsonian’s Folk Life Festival, and in such events as the Latino Festival, Baltimore Folk Festival, and the Takoma Park Folk Festival, among many others.

From Rte. 29, take the Rte. 175 west, exit toward Columbia. Rte. 175 becomes Little Patuxent Pkwy. After about 3.3 miles, turn right onto Harpers Farm Rd (intersection at Howard Community College). After 0.6 miles turn right on Beaverkill Rd. (there is a red light). Ruth Keaton Way is less than one-quarter mile on the left. Parking is directly in front of the center.

This event is free and open to the public. However, donations are appreciated and will defray event costs and benefit the performers.
